YionStack

Accessibility statement

An operating system for every employee in your business.

YionStack is the UK-first Business OS. The businesses using us employ people with disabilities, and the UK Equality Act 2010 places real duties on those employers. Our job is to give them tools that already meet the bar — so buying YionStack is part of the answer to their accessibility duty, not the next problem.

Contrast

Pushes foreground to pure black on pure white and tightens borders.

Text size

Scales every text element on the page proportionally.

Motion

Reads your OS setting (System Preferences → Accessibility). We honour it automatically — no toggle needed.

These three controls let you change how this page (and the rest of the site for the duration of your session) renders. Saved to your browser only — never to a server, never tied to an account.

The four principles

Perceivable. Operable. Understandable. Robust.

The W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines organise everything under four principles. Here is the practice we hold ourselves to under each.

Perceivable

Information and UI must be presented in ways every user can perceive.

  • Text contrast meets WCAG AA against the foreground / background tokens
  • Decorative SVGs marked aria-hidden so they do not pollute screen readers
  • No information is conveyed by colour alone — pills carry text labels
  • Live regions announce drafts, approvals and inbox updates

Operable

Every interactive element must be reachable and usable from keyboard alone.

  • Skip-to-content link as the first focusable element on every page
  • Visible focus rings on every interactive element
  • Arrow-key navigation across the mega menu, tab strips and module map
  • 44px minimum tap targets on touch devices

Understandable

Content and operation must be predictable and clearly explained.

  • Plain English over legalese — copy reviewed for reading age
  • Form fields labelled, errors written, never colour-only
  • Consistent navigation across every marketing page
  • Operator drafts always show a preview before any action sends

Robust

Content must be reliably interpreted by assistive technology, including older versions.

  • Semantic HTML with proper landmarks (header / nav / main / footer)
  • WAI-ARIA on tablists, dialogs, drawers, accordions
  • Tested against current versions of NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack
  • No reliance on JavaScript for primary navigation or sign-in

UK regulatory landscape

The rules we hold ourselves to.

We are private-sector B2B, so the public-sector regulations do not strictly bind us. We treat them as the floor anyway — both because it is the right thing, and because our customers carry their own duties under the Equality Act.

  1. Equality Act 2010

Service providers (us) must make reasonable adjustments so disabled people can access goods and services on equal terms. This is the default UK duty and applies to private-sector websites and apps — not just the public sector.

  2. EHRC enforcement

The Equality and Human Rights Commission enforces the Equality Act. They publish technical guidance and pursue cases where adjustments aren't made — including against businesses whose digital products lock disabled users out.

  3. gov.uk service manual

The standard the UK government holds itself to. Even though we are not public sector, we follow it as our north star — semantic HTML, progressive enhancement, plain English, GDS design principles. If our customers ever need to demonstrate they bought a tool fit for public-sector partners, this is why.

  4. Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018

Mandates WCAG 2.1 AA (moving to 2.2) for public-sector sites. We are private sector, but we target the same standard so a council, NHS trust or college using YionStack inherits the right defaults.

  5. European Accessibility Act

Effective 28 June 2025. UK businesses serving customers inside the EU must meet it for in-scope products (e-commerce, banking apps, computers and OS). We design every product surface to clear it whether you sell to the EU today or tomorrow.

Known gaps

What we're honest about.

Pretending a product is fully compliant when it is not is the most damaging pattern in our industry. Here are the gaps we know about — listed so you can hold us to them.

  • Some illustrative product mockups in the marketing pages are not individually described — the underlying product UIs themselves are accessible, but the mockups are decorative summaries.

  • A small number of hand-built SVG infographics carry only short alt summaries; longer-form text equivalents land in the next sweep.

  • Third-party content (videos when added) is checked case-by-case — anything below our bar is flagged inline.

Hit a barrier? Email us.

A button you cannot reach with a keyboard. A colour you cannot read. A screen reader saying nothing where it should say something. Anything. We acknowledge within two working days and tell you when we expect to fix it.

Not satisfied?

The EHRC enforces the Equality Act.

If our response is not adequate, you can take the matter to the Equality and Human Rights Commission. They publish guidance and pursue cases against service providers — including digital ones — that fail their duty.
